Made For This

Cobham Satcom specializes in the kind of connectivity that lives and livelihoods depend on. When it all comes down to this rescue mission, this Mayday signal, this crucial piece of intelligence; you don’t need a solution that promises it all. You need a solution that was made for this

You need a solution that’s been precision-engineered by experienced specialists, field tested in the world’s harshest environments, and built with cutting-edge, highly resilient technology.  You need a solution you know you can trust, right here and right now, no matter what’s at stake. Because when anything could happen, a connectivity failure should be the one thing that couldn’t.

MADE FOR CRITICAL OPERATIONS

Dependability isn’t a feature. It’s the foundation that everything else is built on. We’ve spent decades refining what it looks like in the field – on vessels in forward operating bases, in emergency response centers, in the North Atlantic – serving the sectors where a dropped signal isn’t an inconvenience; it’s a crisis. When everything depends on connectivity, we deliver connectivity you can depend on.

Made for the future

The satellite landscape is shifting faster than at any point in its history, with new orbits, new constellations, and new demands. Our in-house R&D organization is built for exactly this moment. Working at the frontier of multi-orbit connectivity, they’re developing the solutions that critical industries will rely on next, not just adapting to change, but anticipating it. We’ve seen every shift this industry has made. We’re always ready for the next one.

New ownership. Same mission

In 2025, Cobham Satcom became part of Solix Group; a Scandinavian investment company with deep roots in the maritime and government sectors we’ve served for decades. They didn’t acquire us to change what we do. They acquired us because of it. For us, it means the reach and resources to grow in ways that matter: more customers, new markets, and the resources to build even better solutions.

COBHAM SATCOM MILESTONES

  1. 2025
Cobham Satcom acquired by Solix Group

Cobham Satcom is acquired by Scandinavian investment firm Solix Group, marking the start of a new phase for the company as part of a portfolio of independently operated businesses.

  2. 2020
Cobham Satcom becomes a standalone business under Advent International

Following Cobham’s acquisition by Advent International, Cobham Satcom becomes a standalone business – focused, independent, and fully dedicated to the connectivity challenges that define its customers’ work.

  3. 2013
    Cobham Satcom is born

The combined entity is formally rebranded as Cobham Satcom, headquartered in Denmark. SAILOR, Sea Tel, EXPLORER and AVIATOR are unified under a single organization – with the depth of portfolio and scale of expertise to serve customers across every critical sector.

  4. 2012
Cobham plc acquires Thrane & Thrane

Cobham acquires Thrane & Thrane A/S, making it the core of a new SATCOM strategic business unit alongside SeaTel marine, TracStar land, and Omnipless airborne product lines. Danish satellite expertise and American antenna leadership come together in a single organization — twice the size of either predecessor, and more capable than both.

ARE YOU MADE FOR THIS?

The technology we build is only part of the story.
Behind every solution, there’s a team of engineers, specialists, and problem-solvers who take the work as seriously as the customers who depend on it. If that sounds like you, we’d like to hear from you
